Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival Announces the Ruffled Feather Achievement Award Recipients

Plymouth, MA (May 19, 2010) –- The Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival, proudly presents its first annual Ruffled Feather Award Recipients. The Ruffled Feather award is an honorary award that Loretta LaRoche Productions has developed in hopes to recognize and commend the unique achievements of talented individuals who have positively “Ruffled the Feathers” of the world: socially, emotionally and optimistically through the use of humor and creativity.

For Excellence in Film, the award will be going to Film Producer, Kris Meyer. Kris has produced/co-produced a number of great films including: The Lost Son of Havana, The Heartbreak Kid, On Broadway, Fever Pitch, Stuck on You, Shallow Hal and Me, Myself & Irene. He has also been involved in other such films as, Osmosis Jones, Say It Isn’t So, and There’s Something About Mary.

Kris will accept the award on July 6th during The Art of Laughter in Films…an intimate evening with Kris Meyer and Loretta LaRoche. This benefit and VIP evening will be held at the beautiful Plimoth Plantation on Tuesday, July 6th at 7:00pm.

For Humor Achievement, the award will be going to Steven Gross and The Life Is Good Playmakers, formally known as Project Joy. Steven Gross and his Project Joy team have been helping to heal and strengthen children through play for over twenty years. They continue to build a community of committed Playmakers – frontline childcare professionals who have received certification training from Project Joy and who are dedicated to the healthy development of our nation’s poorest and most vulnerable children. Every year from 2004-2009, a Life is good Festival is held to benefit Project Joy, allowing founder Steve Gross and his crew of joyful mavericks to expand their work throughout New England, in states across the nation, and internationally in places like Canada, Haiti, and Denmark.
